The Nutcracker...Pun Intended

We have a traditional nutcracker sitting on the shelf of a curio cabinet in the corner of our dining room. The kids really like to play with it because it has a removable sword, so it was not unusual to see it sitting out on the table the other day. What I did not expect was this:
